Bob Hendershot

AGENCY OWNER
Bob was born and raised in Columbus, Indiana. He graduated from Columbus High School and from Purdue University where he was a drum major at both schools. He joined the Delta Chi Fraternity while at Purdue. After graduation, he continued to be active within the Delta Chi organization, serving in various capacities, including treasurer of the Delta Chi Education Foundation and most recently as a member of the Board of Directors.

He began his Farm Bureau career shortly after graduating from Purdue in 1972, serving as an agent and sales advisor in Lafayette and Indianapolis. He left Farm Bureau Insurance for about 10 years to manage an oncology practice in Indianapolis. He returned to Farm Bureau Insurance in 1992 as an agent in the Bartholomew County office and has continued as an agent, receiving numerous awards, including Premier Agent for 20 years, and Trailblazer for 27 years. His success continued in 2021, he became the Owner of Robert Hendershot Agency, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance at 3220 Middle Road.

Bob currently lives in the Columbus area on his 14-acre Christmas tree farm with his wife Cindy, a retired R.N., and his pound puppy, Lucy. He also has a daughter Katie and son-in law, Gary, two stepdaughters, Jill, and Renee, and 2 granddaughters, Lexie, and Libby.

Alex Cowan

AGENT
Alex was born and raised in Columbus, IN. After graduating from Columbus East, he went on to play a year of college football at Thomas More University. After Thomas More University, he transferred back to Columbus where he studied at Ivy Tech and IUPUC where he studied Business.

He recently joined Robert Hendershot Agency working as an Agent licensed in Property and casualty insurance as well as Life and Health. Alex has completed many aspects of Property & Casualty training to enhance his skills.

Alex lives in Columbus, IN with his wife Cassidy. Together they have a son named Carter, born in July 2023. They also have a rescue dog, Colt. In his free time, he enjoys watching, coaching, and attending all sports activities. Alex looks forward to giving you a positive experience at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance!

Lyra Claycamp

AGENCY COORDINATOR
Lyra joined our agency working as a production assistant in 2021. She graduated from Seymour High School and Ivy Tech Community College. She was an active FFA member and DARE Role Model. Lyra also assists on her family’s dairy farm. She has shown dairy cattle at both the local and state levels. She was a ten year 4-H member and completed multiple projects each year.

Prior to joining our agency, she worked at a local excavation company. Lyra has become a valuable member of the team. She is licensed in Property & Casualty, as well as a Notary Public, and performs many agent duties. She enjoys working with our clients. Lyra is skilled in all the details for policyholders service. This is includes policy changes, auto transfers, claim submission & billing clarifications.
